Police remove children from rooftop of derelict Lakeside Superbowl in Thatcham
Police have removed children from the roof of a derelict building in Thatcham.
At around 4.55pm on Tuesday (September 24), Thames Valley Police was alerted that a number of children had gained access to the rooftop of a building along Lower Way, understood to be the former Lakeside Superbowl.
A police spokesperson said: "Officers attended the scene and the children were safely escorted from the roof.
“There was no damage, and no entry gained into the premises.”
The bowling alley was officially opened in 1992 by former England footballer Emlyn Hughes.
It remained open to the public every day of the year, except Christmas Day, until it was forced to shut in March 2020.
It later reopened after the easing of lockdown restrictions but was forced to close for good by early 2021.
