Tadley Tens makes welcome return with 10k and 10 events this weekend
Tadley Tens makes a welcome return with a real party atmosphere this weekend, writes Amy Cowan.
For the first time in over two years, the event is back and this time it’s offering both a 10k and 10 mile.
The races – which take place on Saturday (September 29) - are quite the event this year, with a bar from Siren Craft Brew, Gourmet Queens serving hot drinks, cakes and bacon rolls and the Baughurst Scout and Guide group running a barbeque.
It is set to be a perfect challenge for both seasoned and first-time runners, with a friendly atmosphere, medals and prizes for top performers.
Race director Teresa Robbins said: “We have been extremely lucky to get lots of support to make the village race more of a destination this year, for both runners after they have finished, but also supporters and locals too.”
She added encouragement for “more people to come along and enjoy themselves whether they are
running or not.”
Both courses start from the Hurst Community College at 10am, winding through the rolling hills and charming villages of the Hampshire-Berkshire border, said event organisers.
Full course maps and details can be found online, as well as entry prices.
Online entries close today (Thursday) and can be found here, but you can still enter on the day for £5 more.
Ms Robbins added: “We are really excited to once again be hosting a race around the local area. We thought that combining the two race distances would encourage more people to take part as the last few years have been tough for some local races.”
Resident DJ Dave will be there, with his Scooby-Doo inspired Mystery Machine, and for aching runners, Silchester Sports Massage will be on hand after the race.
The event organisers said they wanted to thank The Hurst school for the use of their grounds, and said they were looking forward to welcoming everyone to “such a great event”.
So get ready to lace up your running shoes and hit the scenic roads of Tadley, this Sunday.
